Immigration reform was supposed to be on the agenda of the U.S. house of Representatives this Fall. However, Speaker of the House John Boehner announced that the House would not "go to conference" with regard to the Senate's comprehensive immigration reform legislation. In other words, the Speaker has announced that the House will not negotiate with the Senate over comprehensive immigration reform. As Senate Democrats have previously stated that they would not compromise with the House unless the House went to conference on the CIR, it seems deadlock will prevail, and no immigration reform will happen this year, and perhaps not until after mid term elections.
