H-1B visas allows employers to hire foreign nationals for up to six years, and can even lead to permanent residency. However, the number of visas issued annually is capped at 65,000 for workers with bachelor degrees, and 20,000 for those with advanced degrees. For employment starting October 1, 2014, the application should be filed on April 1, 2014. Every year, the employment cap is oversubscribed by early April. Therefore, getting a head start and preparing the application and supporting documentation is critical.
